Hi, Tim,

Yep, I can identify, commiserate, etc. with who the crabs/vampires are in my life and at times, it is me. Fortunately, in my personal life I can avoid those type of people. At work, it's a little trickier but still manageable. Good topic and it applies to not only exercise but all areas of a person's life too. I'm thinking, in particular, one's choice of faith.

I attended the Body Worlds tour with Tim on Saturday and while the exhibit is amazing itself, having Tim there was an extra bonus.

Having Tim there to answer specific questions, whether about injuries, body movement or effects of nutrition it made the experience that much more interesting.

I also enjoyed the group aspect, there were lots of questions asked and discussions going on that you wouldn't get without the benefit of having Tim along.

I highly recommend going next time Tim offers a tour!

I took part in this tour on Saturday with my husband and we both found it to be an enriching experience.
The Science Center does an effective job of grouping certain themes together with the first exhibit focusing on the brain and the last exhibit focusing on reproductive health so you can do it all over again! My husband didn't realize that these were going to be real bodies, and that is a very neat part of the exhibit.

The true value came in, though, when Tim was able to elaborate further than the placards could. You could ask detailed questions about some of your lifestyle choices and how that could physically look. My favorite bit was learning more about the liver. As an avid beer and wine connoisseur, i thought only of the liver as a filter for alcohol, but seeing that it filters all toxins from the blood was an eye opener.

To those of you who are thinking about going....do it and try to tag along with Tim's presentation for an added benefit. Seeing the exhibit will re-enforce your good nutrition and exercise habits!

When I'm travelling (particular via planes), I'll carry a little baggie filled with quick oats, protein powder, cinnamon and various dried nuts & fruit. It's a perfect snack that's substantial & satisfying. All you need is hot water (available from the stewardess or any coffee shop) and a spoon!

I absolutely love this exhibit! Being a student in health sciences, I could not see a better way to learn about how our bodies look and work... I'm actually seriously contemplating on donating my body to this exhibit as well and see nothing wrong with that.

As for people who are uneasy about the process that takes place, how is it any different than cremation? Burning a body isn't seen as ethical when the individual is living but if it was what they wanted after death, we have no issue with it. If individuals want to donate their bodies to science they should be able to without the judgment of others who don't have the stomachs to handle it.

Valid points and thanks for expressing your opinion! Cadavers are tough to come by in the research field, never mind for exhibits like this. The challenges at finding "specimens" as you call them are one of the key reasons why the BodyWorlds Body Donation program was started. The overwhelming success of this program has provided a virtually limitless supply of willing and excited donors from all demographic groups. The line-ups to complete and submit the forms for donation were HUGE at both exhibits I attended.

While I haven't completed the forms, I am totally open to the concept and think it is a great step forward in the advancement of science, art learning about the human body and the impact we can have in each of these areas.

Considering most of these bodies were obtained without consent from family members and these bodies were primarily Chinese prisoners who have died while in prison and whose bodies were sold in a black market, and after seeing the 20/20 report on how they treat these bodies and the condition of the labs from which these bodies were preserved, is disgusting and inhumane.
To me exhibiting corpses in public stripped of their skin and posed does
not treat them with human dignity. Rather than seeing each body as a person, with a name and a family and a story, we are encouraged to see them as specimens. And this has absolutely nothing to do with religion.
