Group fitness classes can be great fun, and a great workout. However, there are a few important challenges to consider that impact your ability to get the results you want.
First, technique is typically secondary in larger groups. You need to know what you are doing and have great form to get the best results. An important point to remember is that most group instructors do not have the educational or experiential background to provide effective modifications for a variety of fitness and experience levels in a class. This puts you at a disadvantage and greater risk of injury (or just lack of results).
Second, hopping between various classes doesn’t provide you with a structured, and well-rounded fitness program (unless you know what you are doing, and strategically pick classes that round out your strengths and weaknesses). Very few people have this routine properly mapped out, and even fewer change it up regularly to continue seeing the results they desire.
Third, it can get annoying constantly traveling around to various locations just to get the classes you want While some people may like this, the logistics can be a major barrier to those struggling with consistency and motivation.
