Every dieter is constantly looking for weight loss tips, something that works quickly and easily. However, one of the most helpful tricks you can use in your weight-loss goals is also one of the most overlooked.
You’ve reduced your portion sizes and now come mealtimes you look down at your plate with a sigh of disappointment. Your smaller portion looks tiny compared to the dinner plate you used to fill. The solution
is simple – eat your meals and snacks from smaller plates. You’re still consuming your smaller portions, but the psychological effect is what makes all the difference. Your brain thinks your portion is bigger because in comparison to your plate size, it is.
To put this tip into practice, start eating breakfast and dinner off of side plates or from small bowls. If you’re a cereal eater for breakfast, try using a teacup to limit the sugary carbs.
Carry this habit on to lunch. You should already be bringing your own lunches to work – you want to control your portions, sodium and macronutrients as much as possible and not leave it up to the Starbucks pastry case, after all. Invest in some quality food containers that already are portioned (i.e. ¼ cup, ½ cup and 1 cup containers). You can also use mason jars if you want something microwave-safe.
Simple as that! Without even changing the things you eat, this will produce amazing results. You will find yourself feeling more satisfied with your smaller portions, and won’t feel like you’re depriving yourself. Use this easy weight-loss trick in your everyday life and watch how quickly it becomes a habit.
