August is one of the biggest months for family vacations. For me and my family, these are amazing times, filled with relaxation, fun, and plenty of activity for everyone. However, for many people, vacations involve too little movement. Combined with too much sitting, lounging, and indulgence, it’s a recipe for disaster. For healthy and happy people, movement and activity are a part of everyday life. This includes vacations, stat holidays, work days and weekends.
The simple fact is that our body was meant to move. We feel, eat, live, and look better when we do it regularly. This doesn’t mean you have to slave away in a gym, or run yourself into the ground. The good news is that you don’t need a gym or even formal workouts. Get outside and do simple things such as walking, hiking, bike riding, sight seeing, games, sports, or just play with your kids, family, and friends. I plan on doing a lot of these on my upcoming vacation!
