The weekend is almost upon us. With a short week due to the holiday Monday, your workload and stress may be a little high. That’s OK, and may actually benefit you. Too many people aim to eliminate stress, but that’s unrealistic, and shouldn’t be the goal.
Stress is necessary for life, growth, and development, but must be handled in the right way. Stress only becomes negative when it overwhelms us (poor planning, etc.), our coping mechanisms become destructive (substance abuse, etc.), or we aren’t able to reframe the context (mindset strategies).
So, if you are feeling overwhelmed leading up to the weekend, take a few deep breaths, get up from your desk to clear your head, determine the most important thing you can complete today, and focus on getting that thing done. Once you’ve accomplished that, move on to the next task.
There are many more great strategies to help you be more efficient, effective, and productive without the stress. It’s part of our coaching process, and covers each of the 4 Pillars of Performance. We would love to help you out before the workload in September really ramps up!
