Should You Listen To Success Stories About Weight Loss And Fitness?

Almost everything I see people doing today in fitness and weight loss is totally reactionary. Let’s be clear, it won’t work…at least over the long term. Doing more random STUFF won’t work. Copying what someone is doing just because they claim to have success, and relying only on success stories about weight loss and fitness won’t work.

Just like providing more meal plans and harder workouts won’t work for our clients either. There’s more to it than that. At FRESH!, we work hard to instill this concept every day. It’s the same for you.

Success stories about weight loss and fitness

Just because someone looks fit on Instagram and posts success stories about weight loss and fitness doesn’t mean you should be following their workout or diet plan.

They aren’t you. You aren’t them. Be smart and do your due diligence. Find out:

  • What you want to accomplish

  • Why it’s important to you

  • What needs to be done

  • Who can help

Understand that results and progress aren’t about fancy perks or doing something randomly for a few weeks. They are about putting in smart, consistent, focused effort over time.

When a person complains about a lack of results, a mentor of mine likes to say “Did you DTFW?” (DTFW means “Do the Freakin’ Work”)

I was on the phone the other day with someone inquiring about coaching at our studio and they want to know what they get. By that, they meant STUFF (gym equipment brands, perks, etc.),

That’s fine but if your health and fitness are not doing well, more stuff is not going to help.

So, what does help with weight loss and fitness?
  • More focus.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Less overwhelm.

  • More disciplined investment of your money and resources. (Some people complain that training/coaching is too expensive, yet spend 10’s thousands every year on “STUFF” that isn’t necessary and takes them further from their goals.)

  • Positivity. World-renowned researcher Dr. Barbara Fredrickson proved that if your positivity ratio was 3-1, your life and career would flourish.

  • Prioritization. C.S. Lewis said, when we put first things first, seconds are not suppressed, rather they increase.

  • Blocking and respecting your time and “guardrails”.

On that note, it’s time to stop complaining about the time.

Being “so busy” is a matter of perspective. Honestly, when someone says they don’t have enough time, I cringe. We all have the same time each day. How we spend it speaks volumes about our mindset and priorities in life.

As a colleague of mine likes to say, “Our hours don’t make themselves, we make them.” Similarly, our health and fitness won’t improve themselves, we must take action to improve them.

Here’s the quickest and most simple way to succeed in health, weight loss, fitness, and life in general
  • Put first things first

  • Love and serve people

  • Focus on the process, results will take care of themselves

  • Cultivate mental fortitude and resilience by taking action each day while embracing and learning from the setbacks you face

That’s it. Invest a couple of minutes right now to think about and process this information. Then…DTFW!
