For all of you in the US, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Instead of the usual Black Friday and Cyber Monday 2023 deals, I have something else for you (don’t worry, there’s still something to satisfy your shopping craving!).

What I have for you is a perspective shift. One that I hope helps you improve your health and fitness. Plus, it doesn’t cost a thing! 🙂 You see, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are simply labels. The same goes for major holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, and more.

It’s common for people to use these labels to define what should happen on those days. This often includes things that run counter to your health and wellness goals.

Whether you spend too much, overindulge, barely get off the couch, or fill yourself with sweet and savory treats, the outcome is the same.

People not only get further from their goals, but they often feel guilty about what they’ve done, and end up ruining the fun and enjoyment generated from the experience in the process.

2023-2024 perspective shift

Now, this is where the perspective shift comes in.

Just like every other day in the year, what you choose to do makes a big difference, but just as important is how you view those daily actions. Individual days are important, but I believe that it’s rarely any single day that makes or breaks someone’s health and fitness goals.

It’s how those single days link together and how they fit into the bigger picture. So, the health impact of Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or any other day can be positive, negative, or neutral.

The outcome is up to you!

I believe that success is…the cumulative effect of taking small healthy, success-oriented actions on more days than not while owning your actions, learning, and experiencing the great things that life has to offer!

Do you see the power in this statement?

Not happy with where you are? Great…When you decide to, you have the power to change it!

YOU hold the keys.

YOU have the power.

YOU are responsive-able.

YOU are the sum of your cumulative thoughts and actions.

I’m a big fan of eating great food, enjoying myself, and spending quality time with family and friends. If I choose to indulge or be a couch potato for the weekend, it’s done with clear ownership of those actions.

There’s nothing to feel guilty about. It was an action I decided to take and am committed to living with. I know that my mindset and life are set up where these actions are exceptions to the rule, and done with eyes wide open.

Each action produces an outcome (or consequence). What you consistently do with these outcomes is what makes the long-term difference.

When too many decisions add up and start leading me away from where I want to go, it’s time to take stock and refocus on what’s most important to me.

2023-2024 Perspective Shift
