One important thing I’ve learned about success over the years is that the key factors for success are essentially the same. Regardless of your goals. The even better news is that you already know and have walked this path to be successful.
Take a moment to reflect on your life so far.
I can guarantee that there is something you’ve been successful at or a task that you’ve performed at a very high level. The same overall principles and concepts that allowed you to succeed in those past areas will also drive your success now and in the future.
Having competed in sports at a high level, and completed a university degree, I knew that I could utilize those same skills and traits (drive, determination, willingness to learn and work hard towards a worthwhile goal, etc.). In the pursuit of any objective in the future.
The same is true for you.
Perhaps you’ve been a competitive athlete, a great student, an outstanding parent, or lead a successful project at work. Maybe you’ve reached a weight loss goal, or trained for your first 5k, 10k, ½ marathon.
Succeeding at anything substantial requires a commitment.
You have to set goals, use your skills, acquire new ones through learning, effort. And persist in the face of adversity and competing demands on your time.
You already have the fundamental tools and skills you need. You’ve already used them (likely on many occasions). All that needs to be done is remember this and build your next success around them.
Far too many high-performing people forget that the skills that make them successful in one area of life can be transferred to succeed in other areas of life.
So think back to times you’ve been successful and done great things. Then use those skills and that drive to propel you to success in whatever goals you’ve currently set for yourself. Knowing these skills doesn’t always make the process easier.
